STEAMPUNK graphics

First off, I'm a huge sci-fi fan enjoying the written works of H.G Wells, William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Margaret Atwood and Alistair Reynolds to name a few. Some of these writers fall into the steampunk genre. I enjoy the inventive playfulness of steampunk things, the physicalness of them, the intricacies, embellishment and nod to Victorian and Art Noveau eras and of course the use of retro-futuristic "anaolog" technolgies. In representing myself, I feel like that fits my "retro" web past. My first html class was through the english department. I was there when Flash first hit the scene and a 3-dimensional spinning ball on the web was a VERY BIG DEAL. I've tinkered with physical computing. I'm constantly learning something new in regards to web design and development. And I enjoy it. But while I've embraced the new (I do appreciate "content-first" flat and streamlined), I also still have some nostalgia for the old ways. Which is why, steampunk references symbolically seemed like a good fit. Plus they just look cool. I hope you enjoy.

Hi.

I'm a designer who likes brand, web design and playing with code. I'm an educator who raises the bar. I'm an author who likes talking more than writing . I'm a blogger who started with something nobody had ever heard of and turned it into an industry recognized name. I drink too much coffee.

ps. Confession: I like gradients, spinning things, patterns, complimentary colors, playing with type, animation and video. I grew up on Flash. I miss it. I'm learning to code all over again. I developed this site to for both desktop and mobile. Mobile is good. I also developed this site to have fun, learn and try new things. I got some web dev help from a former student of mine (thanks, Mike Kivo!) who's gone on to do great things. They grow up so fast.
